Biconcave lens
At Coligh Optics, we offer a range of biconcave lenses made from various materials such as BK7, fused silica, CaF2, K9, among others. These lenses can be tailored to meet specific requirements, and we provide customized options to our customers. Additionally, we offer anti-reflection coatings for different wavelengths based on the intended usage.
Double Concave Lenses, also known as biconcave lenses, possess two concave surfaces with equal curvature that can cause parallel incident light beams to diverge outwards. Due to their negative focal length, they are ideal for beam expansion, collimation, and projection, as well as for expanding the focal length of optical systems. Biconcave lenses are commonly used in Galilean-type beam expanders and can diverge or converge light beams. They are also known as negative spherical lenses or diverging lenses.
Coligh Optics offers uncoated and AR-coated biconcave lenses for various wavelength bands to cater to diverse applications. Applying anti-reflection coating on both sides of the double-concave lens can significantly decrease surface reflection and enhance transmittance. The anti-reflection coatings come in various options, such as UV, VIS, NIR, SWIR, IR1, and IR2. K9 optical glass substrates are appropriate for visible and near-infrared applications, whereas germanium, silicon, zinc selenide, and calcium fluoride substrates are suitable for infrared applications. Fused silica is an ideal substrate for ultraviolet applications.
