The Gold Standard of Aesthetic Lasers: The Power of 2940nm

In the world of medical aesthetics, the 2940nm Er:YAG laser is renowned as the “water absorption peak” expert. Emitting light at a wavelength closest to the absorption peak of water (~3000nm), this laser energy is rapidly absorbed by the skin’s moisture. This characteristic allows for incredible precision in both ablative and non-ablative treatments, from deep skin resurfacing to stimulating collagen production in the superficial dermis.

However, the efficacy of an Er:YAG system relies heavily on one critical component: Beam Delivery.

Introducing the Solution: Coligh Optics’ 2940nm ZnSe DOE

Coligh Optics is proud to announce the successful development and mass production of our new 2940nm Diffractive Optical Element (DOE) based on a Zinc Selenide (ZnSe) substrate.

Designed specifically for medical aesthetic applications, this DOE leverages our advanced photolithography micro-nano structuring to achieve superior beam shaping and energy control.

Why Zinc Selenide (ZnSe)?

We chose ZnSe as the foundation for this optic due to its specific advantages in the mid-infrared spectrum:

  • Superior Transmission: Excellent clarity at 2940nm ensures minimal energy loss.

  • Low Absorption: Reduces thermal lensing effects during high-power operation.

  • High Laser Induced Damage Threshold (LIDT): Capable of withstanding the rigorous pulse energies and repetition rates required in clinical settings.

Key Features & Engineering Benefits

Our 2940nm DOE is built to solve real-world engineering challenges for laser system manufacturers:

  1. Robust Depth of Field (DOF): The design maintains performance even with slight focal shifts. This means hand-piece operators (doctors) experience consistent results even if the distance from the skin varies slightly.

  2. Flexible Integration: Compatible with various focal length lenses to suit different hand-piece designs.

  3. Precision Micro-Dots: Delivers a small, high-resolution spot size for fractional treatments, minimizing thermal damage to surrounding tissue and accelerating patient recovery.

  4. Mass Production Consistency: Thanks to our mature optical film and lithography processes, we guarantee batch-to-batch consistency for OEM orders.

Comprehensive Capabilities for Medical Lasers DOEs

The launch of the 2940nm DOE expands Coligh Optics’ proven portfolio of beam shaping solutions. We currently support beam shaping and energy control for a wide range of medical wavelengths:

  • 10600nm: CO2 Lasers

  • 810nm & 940nm: Diode Lasers

  • 1540nm & 1550nm: Er:Glass Lasers

Target Applications

Our optics enable treatments across:

  • Facial Rejuvenation: Treating sun damage and photo-aging.

  • Pigmentation: Addressing melasma and age spots.

  • Scar Revision: Improving acne scars and surgical scars.

  • Skin Tightening: Reducing fine lines and wrinkles on the face, neck, and eyelids.
