Stock Standard 282nm-340nm Hardcoated Interference UV Shortpass Filter  Overview

A UV short-pass filter allows only the 200-400nm ultraviolet wavelength range to pass, while blocking visible light and longer-wavelength infrared light. Its cutoff wavelength is in the ultraviolet region, effectively separating UV light from visible light and infrared light. Coligh’s UV hard-coated short-pass filters utilize a multi-layer dielectric film structure and are classified as interference filters. We utilize a combination of Shadow Magic and interference coatings to selectively transmit UV light while blocking visible and infrared wavelengths.

We are highly experienced in producing UV short-pass filters. Our minimum transmittance in the UV region can exceed 70%, with some transmittance exceeding 85%. We also maintain cutoff depths of OD3 and OD4 for visible and near-infrared light. Utilizing a hard coating process, our UV bandpass filters are widely used in UV imaging, UV spectrophotometers, and fluorescence spectrometers.

The Characteristic Of Our UV Edge Filter

We currently stock a variety of UV short-pass filters in wavelengths such as 282nm, 295nm, 305nm, 306nm, 312nm, 340nm, and 380nm. We also stock sizes ranging from large (60*60mm) to smaller (Dia24, Dia12, and Dia50.8mm) sizes, enabling rapid R&D and testing. We also accept custom orders for various UV edge filters in the 200-400nm UV region.

Our UV edge filters offer the following characteristics:

  • Transmittance in the UV region reaches over 75%-90%, with an average transmittance greater than or equal to 80%.
  • A cutoff depth of OD2-OD4 is achieved in the visible to near-infrared region (295-900nm), effectively filtering out stray light.
  • Using fused quartz as the substrate ensures long-term stability.
    Standard diameters include Φ11mm, Φ13mm, Φ15mm, Φ24mm, and Φ50.8mm; square sizes are available, including 60×60mm and 80×80mm.
  • Thicknesses ranging from 0.7mm to 2.0mm are available, and custom sizes are available upon request.

Custom Capability Of UV Shortpass Filter

We currently offer a full line of UV bandpass filters, covering the entire 200-400nm UV wavelength range. Custom options include:

  • Cut-off wavelength range: 230-395nm
  • Transmission range: 75%-90%
  • Standard blocking depth: OD3/OD4, we can customize up to OD5/OD6

282nm-340nm Hardcoated Interference UV Shortpass Filter Applications

  • Biomedicine
Molecules such as DNA, RNA, and proteins absorb or fluoresce in the ultraviolet region. When used in microscopes or medical imaging systems, UV short-pass filters ensure that the sample being studied receives only the required UV excitation wavelength, enabling high-resolution fluorescence imaging and molecular detection.
  • Industrial Inspection
In nondestructive testing, photolithography, and thin film measurement, UV light has a short wavelength and high energy, allowing detection of subtle defects. UV short-pass filters can separate and direct UV light onto the target surface, improving product yield monitoring.
  • UV Imaging
For UV fluorescence imaging applications such as corona discharge, UV fluorescence, and anti-counterfeiting markings, UV short-pass filters block visible and infrared light, improving image contrast.
