Bandpass filter is filter transmission surrounded by two blocking area. Just part of light could transmit and blocking the other wavelength. It can be divided into wide bandpass filters and narrow bandpass filters. Wide bandpass filters are usually used for imaging application like fluorescence microscope, machine vision. The narrow bandpass filter like bandwidth <20nm is usually used for applications of lasers and analyzer instrument.
Narrow bandpass filter and wide bandpass filter are usually combined to use. It also can be called interference filters.
