320nm Wideband UV Bandpass Filter FWHM 100nm

320nm Wideband UV Bandpass Filter FWHM 100nm is a wideband UV filter with center wavelength 320nm and FWHM 100nm. Coligh customs and manufactures narrowband and wideband UV bandpass filter with various options

320nm Wideband UV Bandpass Filter FWHM 100nm Overview

The 320nm wideband UV bandpass filter (FWHM 100nm) is designed specifically for the UVA-UVB spectral range. With a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 100nm, it offers over 80% transmission in the 270–370nm range while providing high blocking of light from 400nm to 950nm (UV to near-infrared). Constructed using a UV-grade fused silica substrate and hard dielectric coatings, the filter exhibits excellent environmental stability and a high laser damage threshold, making it suitable for applications such as UV spectroscopy, irradiance monitoring, phototherapy, and fluorescence excitation.

Broadband UV Irradiance Measurement and Calibration

When integrated UVA and UVB irradiation from a UV source is required, standard narrowband filters result in significant spectral information loss and are susceptible to interference from visible and infrared light. A 320–370 nm broadband UV bandpass filter efficiently collects UV radiation within the 270–370 nm range while deeply blocking visible stray light and near-infrared radiation above 400 nm.

UV Curing

UV curing typically employs mercury lamps or LED sources, with effective curing wavelength ranges encompassing UVA and sometimes portions of the UVB spectrum. Standard photodetectors capture visible light and thermal radiation alongside UV light, failing to accurately reflect the actual curing energy. A 320–370 nm UV bandpass filter ensures the detector responds specifically to the 270–370 nm curing band, thereby accurately measuring the UV energy used for curing.

Medical Dermatological Treatment

Phototherapy for skin conditions often utilizes 311 nm narrowband UVB or PUVA therapy (UVA combined with psoralen); however, certain treatment protocols require broader-spectrum UV radiation to achieve therapeutic efficacy. A 320–370 nm broadband UV bandpass filter serves as a transmission window for broadband UV lamps, allowing the therapeutic wavelengths to pass while completely blocking short-wave UVC (which poses risks of burns and skin cancer) and visible/infrared radiation (which generates heat but offers no therapeutic benefit).
