Lithography Transparent Fused Silica Checkerboard Calibration Target
A lithography fused silica checkerboard calibration Target is a calibration plate created on a fused silica substrate. Coligh is manufacturer of lithography checkerboard calibration Target.
Lithography Transparent Fused Silica Checkerboard Calibration Target Product Overview
A lithography fused silica checkerboard calibration Target is a calibration plate created on a fused silica substrate using a photolithography process, producing an alternating pattern of transparent and opaque black and white squares. It is a tool used for camera calibration, primarily for adjusting camera intrinsic and extrinsic parameters and correcting lens distortion. It is mainly used in applications such as vision measurement, 3D reconstruction, and robot guidance.
Lithography Transparent Fused Silica Checkerboard Calibration Target Product Features
Coligh is a manufacturer of photolithographic checkerboard calibration boards. Our photolithographic checkerboard calibration boards boast extremely high precision. We use photolithography and etching processes to deposit a thin layer of chromium onto fused silica to form opaque black squares.
It features the following characteristics:
- Extremely high edge pattern positioning accuracy, reaching 1µm.
- Substrate materials include fused silica and ceramic.
- We use UV-cured fused silica as the substrate, resulting in a very smooth surface. Furthermore, the photolithography process creates steep and sharp black-and-white boundaries, facilitating precise corner positioning in algorithms.
- Currently, we can manufacture squares as small as 10µm. In addition to standard stock products, we also accept highly customized orders.

Lithography Checkerboard Calibration TargetApplications
- Camera Intrinsic Calibration: Camera lenses introduce distortion, causing image distortion. By placing the calibration board within the camera’s field of view and capturing images from different angles and positions, the calibration algorithm automatically detects the checkerboard corners in each image. The algorithm then uses these corners to map their corresponding 3D positions in the world coordinate system. Through optimization calculations, the camera’s intrinsic parameter matrix and distortion coefficients can be calculated. Distortion correction eliminates lens-induced distortion, resulting in an ideal image.
- Robot Hand and Eye Calibration: When a camera is mounted on a robot to guide its movements, a checkerboard calibration board is used for camera calibration. This ensures that the position of the object seen by the camera aligns with the position of the robot hand, enabling the robot to perform vision and control execution systems for automated grasping, assembly, and inspection processes.
- Multi-Sensor Fusion: In complex multi-sensor systems, it is often necessary to align data from different devices such as cameras, 3D LiDAR, and depth sensors to the same coordinate system. The checkerboard calibration board serves as a common target visible to all sensors, allowing for the calculation of their relative positions. This ensures that multi-sensor data can be superimposed and fused.
