Blazed Concave Diffraction Grating
Coligh manufactures and custom concave diffraction gratings with 55-100mm radius of curvature. Whether you need a standard Rowland Circle structure or a flat-field concave grating tailored to a specific detector plane, we offer a one-stop solution covering everything from design and substrate processing to coating.
Blazed Concave Diffraction Grating Description
A diffractive concave diffraction grating with a concave surface is an optical component featuring diffractive grating lines etched onto a concave substrate. Through its specially etched sawtooth-shaped diffractive grating lines, enable a single component to simultaneously perform beam splitting, focusing, and imaging, eliminating the need for additional collimating and focusing lenses. By replacing the combination of plane gratings, lenses, and mirrors found in traditional optical systems, they greatly simplify the optical structure. Coligh’s blazed concave diffraction gratings can decompose polychromatic light into a spectrum like ordinary gratings, and can also focus and image diffracted light like concave mirrors, achieving extremely high diffraction efficiency.
Blazed Concave Diffraction Grating Features:
The Blazed Concave Diffraction Grating features the following characteristics:
- The carefully designed concave substrate independently performs both beam splitting and focusing, simplifying the optical path configuration.
- The precisely controlled blaze angle concentrates the grating’s diffraction efficiency within a specific wavelength range, resulting in diffraction efficiency that is significantly higher than that of conventional concave gratings.
Coligh’s Blazed Concave Diffraction Grating Core Advantage
- We utilize high-precision etching technology to ensure smooth grooves and low surface roughness, thereby minimizing stray light.
- We currently support a wide range of substrates, including low-expansion optical glass, quartz, and silicon, to meet application requirements across various wavelength bands from ultraviolet to infrared.
- We offer high-reflectivity aluminum electrolytic films tailored for different wavelength bands.
- For UV applications, our coating process effectively extends the efficiency and lifespan of the aluminum film.

Blazed Concave Diffraction Grating Applications
- Miniature Spectrometer
Traditional solutions using flat gratings combined with imaging mirrors are bulky and result in significant light loss. Concave gratings combine these two functions into one, greatly simplifying the optical path. By integrating a diffractive concave grating into miniature spectroscopic equipment, spectra can be directly imaged onto a CCD or detector, enabling rapid detection - ICP Emission Spectroscopy
ICP-OES requires simultaneous detection of characteristic spectral lines for dozens of elements within a broad wavelength range of 160–900 nm, demanding high resolution (<10 pm) and deep-ultraviolet sensitivity. A flat-field concave grating paired with a two-dimensional detector enables rapid acquisition of the full spectrum, enhancing analytical efficiency - Raman Spectrometers
Raman signals are extremely weak, requiring spectrometers to possess extremely high light throughput and stray light suppression capabilities. Concave gratings reduce the number of optical components and improve light utilization efficiency, making them suitable for applications such as drug identification, materials analysis, and security screening.
