940nm VCSEL Diffuser 120°x90° FOV Product Discription

The 940nm VCSEL Diffuser (120°x90° FOV) is specifically designed for 940nm VCSEL light sources used in 3D sensing. Manufactured using advanced polymer-on-glass technology, it features micro-nano structures fabricated on a glass substrate, ensuring high transmission across the 400–2000 nm range. It delivers a 120° × 90° field of view (FOV) and a flat-top energy distribution, while achieving >60% window efficiency, excellent thermal stability, and a high-quality surface finish (40-20 scratch-dig standard). It maintains its original FOV uniformity even after long-term aging tests, making it particularly suitable for applications such as 3D ToF, AR, VR, Face ID, and LiDAR.

940nm VCSEL Diffuser 120°x90° FOV Key Features

  1. We utilize POG material with a controlled total thickness of 0.35mm or 0.45mm, meeting the physical space constraints of AR/VR headsets, head-mounted displays, and smartphone Face ID systems.
  2. Through a non-rotationally symmetric microstructure design, we precisely generate a 120°×90° (H×V) rectangular light field; this enables longer detection ranges for a given VCSEL power level and provides perfect coverage for the active areas of iToF and dToF sensors.
  3. While designed for a 940nm wavelength, the material maintains high transmission across the 400–2000nm range, and we can provide matching diffusion angles for both single-aperture VCSELs and VCSEL arrays.
  4. We perform wafer dicing to produce square shapes in various dimensions tailored to the diverse VCSEL packages available on the market.
  5. Each shipment includes a comprehensive factory inspection report—covering spectral curves, FOV energy distribution maps, and metrological verification—to ensure absolute consistency across every product batch.

940nm VCSEL Diffuser 120°x90° FOV Applications

ToF Cameras

ToF cameras with medium fields of view often have blind spots when capturing large targets at close range. The 120°×90° rectangular ultra-wide-angle flood illumination provided by the 940nm VCSEL diffuser enables a single ToF camera to capture depth maps of such large scenes without dead zones. Additionally, the 940nm wavelength is eye-safe and resistant to sunlight interference. By combining this 940nm VCSEL diffuser with a VCSEL array to form the flood illumination unit—and integrating it with an iToF/dToF sensor, lens, and processing circuitry—a single all-in-one depth camera can replace multiple narrow-angle cameras, thereby reducing total costs.

AR/VR/MR Headsets

Spatial computing devices require wide-range hand motion capture to support bare-hand interaction; conventional narrow fields of view are insufficient and limit device capabilities. The 940nm light is invisible and imperceptible to users; combined with a massive 120°×90° FOV, it fully covers the interaction space extending from the chest area to the sides of the head, meeting requirements for gestures such as grasping, pinching, and long-range pointing.

3D Facial Recognition

940nm is an infrared wavelength that is invisible to the human eye and safe, posing no risk of eye damage. Beams emitted by bare VCSEL sources are narrow and highly concentrated; direct illumination would not only fail to cover the entire face but also pose a serious risk of retinal burns. The 940nm VCSEL diffuser instantly expands the concentrated point-source beam and precisely shapes it into a rectangular field of view (H120° × V90°), projecting it uniformly onto the user’s face.
