240nm UVC Deep UV Interference filter FWHM 35nm Overview

The 240/35nm UVC deep-UV interference filter is specifically designed for the UVC spectral range, featuring a center wavelength of 240 nm and a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 35 nm. Utilizing UV-grade fused silica and all-hard dielectric thin-film coating technology, the filter achieves high transmission for the 253.7 nm characteristic line of low-pressure mercury lamps and other UVC radiation, while simultaneously providing broadband blocking (OD4) across the 200–1100 nm range. It is suitable for use with deuterium lamps, UV LEDs, and mercury lamp light sources.

240nm UVC Deep UV Interference filter FWHM 35nm Applications

Water Quality Monitor

Substances such as dissolved organic matter DOM, chemical oxygen demand COD, and nitrates exhibit continuous, strong absorption bands in the deep ultraviolet DUV range of 220 nm to 260 nm. A relatively wide bandwidth of 35 nm allows for the simultaneous capture of the combined absorption signals from these characteristic substances while ensuring sufficient optical flux. A 240/35 nm UV interference filter can be integrated into water quality analyzers, enabling the UV light source to pass through the water sample for the monitoring of industrial wastewater and drinking water.

Ozone Concentration Detection

Ozone exhibits extremely strong absorption characteristics within the Hartley band (200 nm – 300 nm) of the ultraviolet spectrum. The 240 nm center wavelength combined with a 35 nm bandwidth targets the region of peak absorption intensity within this band, producing significant changes in absorbance. Serving as a core component in ozone analyzers, the 240/35 nm UV interference filter effectively eliminates stray light interference, enabling accurate monitoring of ozone concentrations.

Biochemical Analyzer

In the life sciences, peptide bonds in proteins exhibit strong absorption near 210–230 nm, while nucleic acids DNA/RNA show a characteristic absorption peak at 260 nm. The 240/35 nm UV interference filter transmits light across both these spectral ranges, facilitating the detection of these key substances. When used in microplate readers, it enables the quantitative assessment of total organic matter.
