254nm UV Narrowband Filter FWHM 10nm 80% Transmission

254nm UV Narrowband Filter FWHM 10nm 80% Transmission is an optical filter which high transmission at 254nm. Coligh customs and manufactures high quality UV bandpass filters narrow to 5nm. Contact us for more detail.

254nm UV Narrowband Filter FWHM 10nm 80% Transmission Overview

This 254nm narrowband UV filter features a 10nm FWHM and 80% transmission; it is specifically designed to isolate the 253.7 nm characteristic spectral line of low-pressure mercury lamps. It offers a peak transmission exceeding 80% within the passband and a blocking depth greater than OD4 across the 200–320 nm range, effectively blocking ultraviolet light outside the UVC band. Constructed using a UV-grade fused silica substrate and hard ion-assisted coatings, the filter ensures stability, resistance to UV-induced degradation, and extremely low autofluorescence. It is suitable for applications such as UV disinfection dosage monitoring, ozone analysis, spectrometer wavelength calibration, and biochemical detection.

254nm UV Narrowband Filter FWHM 10nm 80% Transmission Applications

UV Disinfection Equipment

Low-pressure mercury lamps are the most common UV light sources for disinfection, offering the highest radiation efficiency and strongest germicidal effect at 253.7 nm. However, these lamps also emit unwanted spectral lines at 185 nm (which generates ozone), 313 nm, and 365 nm, as well as visible light. A 254 nm narrow-band filter efficiently transmits the characteristic 254 nm germicidal wavelength while suppressing the 313 nm and 365 nm mercury lines, ensuring reliable disinfection performance.

Online Water Quality Analyzers

The 254 nm UV absorption method is widely used for the online measurement of chemical oxygen demand (COD), total organic carbon (TOC), and UV254 organic matter indicators in water. However, direct use of a UV light source introduces other wavelengths; scattering from turbidity particles in water samples is more pronounced at longer visible wavelengths, and ambient light leakage limits the detection threshold, making it impossible to distinguish subtle changes in clean water. A 254 nm/10 nm narrow-band filter isolates the transmitted signal at 254 nm and suppresses background stray light, enabling accurate water quality analysis.

Fixed-Wavelength UV Detectors

Low-pressure mercury lamps are frequently used as light sources for nucleic acid and protein detection. However, the 253.7 nm emission line is accompanied by other spectral lines. A 254 nm/10 nm bandpass filter isolates the characteristic 253.7 nm line to illuminate the sample; the detector then measures the transmitted light or induced fluorescence to detect the analyte.
