700nm OD6 Longpass Filter for Fluorescence Microscopy Overview

The 700nm OD6 Longpass Filter is a high-performance edge filter specially designed for fluorescence detection. It achieves cutoff near 700nm, the OD6 cutoff depth, with a passband extending from 700nm up to 1200nm. Used in fluorescence imaging to separate excitation light from emission fluorescence, suppress excitation light leakage and stray light, and improve fluorescence signal-to-noise ratio and imaging contrast, it is ideal for fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, fluorescence imaging, and biomedical research.

As a manufacturer of fluorescence filters, we offer high-cutoff longpass filters for fluorescence detection, featuring deep OD6 cutoff, high transmittance, and low autofluorescence. We can customize the production process from film system design, coating, cutting, and testing according to customer needs, including cutoff wavelength, size, and OD value requirements. This product uses a low-autofluorescence fused silica substrate, a hard dielectric multilayer film design, and a narrow transition width, making it suitable for fluorescence detection and analysis.

700nm OD6 Longpass Filter for Fluorescence Microscopy Features

It possesses the following core features:

  • A 700nm cutoff and high transmittance in the long-wavelength direction, making it ideal for selecting fluorescence emission channels.
  • The cutoff band starts at 200nm, with a cutoff depth of OD6, effectively suppressing excitation light leakage. High-precision fused silica as the substrate, with high surface quality, results in low autofluorescence, suitable for detecting weak fluorescence signals.
  • Transmittance exceeds 90% in the 700-1200nm passband.
  • We utilize IAD hard coating, which is scratch-resistant, heat-resistant, and maintains stability and consistency in harsh experimental and industrial environments.

High OD6 700nm IR Longpass Optical Filter Applications

Fluorescence Microscopy Emission Channel

In fluorescence microscopy, the excitation light intensity is typically much higher than the emitted fluorescence. If excitation light leaks into the detector channel, it can mask weak fluorescence signals, reducing the signal-to-noise ratio and image contrast. A 700 nm long-pass filter is used in the emission channel to allow fluorescence above 700 nm to pass through, while using an OD6 deep cutoff to suppress excitation light below 700 nm and stray light. It is a key component of fluorescence imaging systems.

Confocal Microscopy and Multiphoton Imaging

Confocal and multiphoton microscopy have extremely high requirements for stray light suppression. Excitation light leakage can severely affect confocality and imaging depth. An OD6 deep cutoff 700 nm long-pass filter provides higher excitation/emission separation, reduces background light entering the detector, and improves confocal imaging quality.

Fluorescence Imaging and In Vivo Imaging

In in vivo and fluorescence imaging, tissue autofluorescence and ambient light can reduce the signal-to-noise ratio. The OD6 700nm long-pass filter can suppress short-wavelength excitation light and autofluorescence, improve in vivo imaging depth and signal-to-noise ratio, and reduce autofluorescence interference. It is suitable for detecting near-infrared fluorescent probes such as Cy5.5, Cy7, and IRDye 700/800 fluorophores.
